Nordic Walking

The Nordic Walking Group have been walking every Monday evening now for several weeks, in the lovely Lydiate countryside.  Our walks range between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes duration, and are between 4 and 5 miles long.  They are becoming quite popular now that the nights are lighter and warmer.  Last week we saw 18 walkers taking part.  Our best attendance to date.  We will continue meeting throughout the summer period, except for public holidays.  Here are some photographs of the group during this weeks circular walk via Hall Lane, Eager Lane, Church Lane, the Cheshire Lines path, Pummells Lane and Station Road.  Fortunately we made it back before the storm.

Happy Nordic Walking,

Treasurer retires

U3A_AGM_WallyHigham_WandaLeach_6May2014 (3)Treasurer Wally Higham retires as U3A Treasurer this month. At our recent AGM, Chairman Wanda Leach thanked Wally for his faithful service over the past 8 years since the inception of our U3A. Freed from his onerous duties he plans to spend a bit more time in his garden and was pleased therefore to receive as a token of our appreciation a new Garden Relaxer which he plans to put to good use. Well done Wally and many thanks from us all.

Welsh Language

We’ve taken a more literary turn in the Welsh class lately and are having a look at some of the nation’s poets. Starting with the poetry of I D Hooson and T H Parry-Williams we will be looking in the future at the Welsh War Poets. If you fancy a change come and join us, we’re friendly and eager to meet fellow enthusiasts. ‘Mae croeso cynes i’w gael yn y dosbarth.’
